Online Security

Our eValley Online Banking and eValley Business Banking sites are maintained and operated at a secure location operated by a third party vendor. This vendor has agreed to keep all customer data confidential and secure. This vendor uses firewalls and filtering routers to restrict access to data. The vendor monitors its web server to determine if an unauthorized user is attempting to access the web server.

Our eValley Online Banking and eValley Business Banking sites use several types of security to protect confidential customer information. eValley Online Banking and eValley Business Banking are designed for use with web browsers that use Secure Socket Layer technology. Your browser must be configured for 128-bit encryption. Data that is transmitted between you and eValley Online Banking / eValley Business Banking is encrypted (see the discussion below for details about the encryption methods we use) and is protected by firewalls and filtering routers. We also assign passwords to our customers in order to limit access.

Browser Configuration
The eValley Online Banking / eValley Business Banking websites are designed for use with browsers that use Secure Socket Layer (SSL) Technology. Netscape and Microsoft's SSL is used to provide encryption of data flowing between the browser and the server. Your browser must support 128 Bit SSL (Secure Socket Layer) security. This allows you to send and receive encrypted transactions over the Internet. If you are currently not running on 128 Bit encryption, contact the manufacturer of your web browser for an update. Also, it is important that you contact the manufacturer of your web browser from time to time to determine whether any software updates for your web browser are available. Software companies that manufacture web browsers from time to time provide updates that correct potential “holes” in a web browser's security functions. These updates may be available at no additional cost.

Public/Private Key Encryption
When a customer's account is created, a password is assigned, which is sent to the customer along with a verification letter. In addition to password protection, server authentication is used with the latest in public key cryptography. Public/private key pairs are used specifically for authentication. The public key is distributed, using a certificate that verifies the identity of the owner. The private key is kept secret (known only to the entity holding the key). A message encrypted by a public key can only be read after decryption with the private key. The eValley Online Banking and eValley Business Banking systems will not allow you to transmit confidential information unless you possess a proper public-key provided to you by those sites.

Layered Authentication Security
Layered authentication security measures are in place to protect the user’s information through separated access ID’s and passwords, and through validation images and questions.  The user also can register their computer - the computers unique set of characteristics will be stored by internet banking and used as additional validation criteria during subsequent logins.  Also as part of this layered security, the user uses an authentication pass phrase - another tool to ensure customers are accessing a valid internet banking website.
